Backup and restore

Encrypted backups, automatic daily copy, restore with a check first.

Only the owner can back up and restore.

Make a backup

Back-office, Settings, Backup and restore. Choose a passphrase of at least 8 characters. A hanouti-backup-<date>.hnt file is created and can be downloaded. It is encrypted: nobody can open it without the passphrase, including us. Keep the passphrase somewhere safe.

Automatic backups

Enable "Back up automatically every day", choose a folder (a USB drive works), and set how many copies to keep. Tick "remember the passphrase" when creating a backup so the schedule can run unattended.

Restore

Pick a backup, type the passphrase and choose Check only first: it shows the shop, date, version and row counts and changes nothing. Then restore. A backup from a newer version of the app asks you to update first.

The desktop app also takes an automatic encrypted backup before each upgrade that changes the database.
